Although not a US citizen, obviously this was a world shaking moment. My struggle was comprehending women who would vote for a man who raped a woman in a changing room, and who wishes to take US women back 50 years in terms of access to terminations. I suspect other women share this sense of utter bewilderment. In the UK we had a female PM in 1979 - albeit one whose politics were not mine. Still, pretty momentous. I hope US women get a female leader in my lifetime.
"What a gift to Democrats.... if losing to the worst candidate while raising obscene amounts of money doesn't make you realize that your fundamental understanding of the electorate is wrong, I don't know what will."
In an increasingly polarized world, we need a new approach: one that values all perspectives and embraces complexity.
Embrace Both Sides: Every viewpoint holds part of the truth. Real progress happens when we see opposing perspectives as pieces of a larger, unified picture.
Opposition as Growth: Disagreement isn’t an obstacle—it’s an invitation to refine our understanding and grow together.
Intelligence with Humility: True intelligence means being open, humble, and willing to learn from others.
Collaborate, Don’t Compete: Let’s move beyond debates as battles. Together, we can create solutions that reflect the full range of human experience.
A Call for Compassionate Dialogue: Respect for diverse perspectives is essential to build a mature, inclusive society.
This is a call to see things differently. Let’s lay the groundwork for a culture of wisdom, empathy, and cooperation.

Henry, I hope it was clear from my post that I am really digging for grace… I am not advocating for an embrace, I can’t either. I am trying to get used to living with my blood at a vigorous boil.
Good for you, Petya! I love how you approached this with your daughter. And after giving ourselves time to grieve, we will get back in the fight. For our children and grandchildren.
Well said. 🩷 I also love the illustration of Octavia Butler too. I just recently bought Katy Horan’s Literary Witches oracle deck and it’s so beautiful.

“the election only exposed something that was already true.” This really has been landing for me today.
Oh and I love you 💕

I think I will order a bunch of copies of that book to give to my girlfriends as holiday gifts. She is SO GOOD!
