Part of this was a coincidence and part of it was destiny. One of my very first Substack friends happens to be my real-life friend, illustrator Beth Spencer who runs Introvert Drawing Club. By following Beth, I unintentionally wedged myself in the beautiful world of artists and illustrators who share work here on Substack.

I work in tech and I am currently writing my very first novel, I was shocked by the immediate draw I felt to Beth’s community. We have nothing in common! Or so I thought.

The Venn Diagram of ME-vs-Illustrators contains no overlap. 😂

Until, of course, gradually I realized how much I was learning. It happened softly and naturally, without forcing. Maybe that’s why it has all felt so helpful. I have been following these journeys with my heart-guard down because I didn’t think that these newsletters necessarily applied to me. I wasn’t there to learn. I was just there, you know, lurking.
