There have been many conversations on this platform recently about how to grow your readership and why certain writers seem to draw a lot of attention while others struggle. I especially enjoyed essays on this topic recently by
and but many others have written about this - being a very notable example.I think the reason why so many of us are feeling pulled into this drama is that it illuminates a larger struggle we all have in many aspects of our lives - to do work that we find meaningful while also feeling seen and recognized for doing it. Yeah, sure, we all say that we are writing for ourselves but that’s not really honest, is it? If it were truly the case, we would be doing our Morning Pages and be done with it. We are HERE because we seek an audience and the readership conversation pertains to all of us, whether we have 50 followers or 5,000.
