In early April of this year, my friend Eric put me in touch with an old classmate of his - a startup founder, thinking about possibly relocating to Memphis and looking to connect with people in the local startup/tech community. We set up a call and had a fantastic conversation about Memphis, business, startups, work, etc. It was going great until I realized that what I thought was a meet-and-greet was also a job interview. Oh. OK. After an awkward pause on my part, we laughed about it and within 2 weeks, I was at the startup… a brand new Product Manager.
Being a Product Manager at a startup, especially a successful one, is HOT SHIT at the moment. It’s THE job to want.
